Why it matters

Using AI agents to improve your company’s AI visibility is a great way to do it. Agents can work like colleagues, helping small teams do more to:

AI visibility has two parts: getting your brand mentioned in the answer itself and getting content that talks about you cited as sources. Each requires a slightly different strategy, but the work follows the same loop any good marketer uses:

Kite is an AI marketing agent you work with in Slack. It researches your business, builds a growth strategy, and ships the work that brings you new customers. It runs this loop that gets your company appearing more often in AI answers. Here’s how it works.

How it works

How Kite improves your visibility in AI answers

Kite starts like any good marketer. First, it measures how often your company shows up in answers to AI prompts. Kite proposes which questions are worth tracking for your business, then runs them through the AI answer engines that matter the most: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude. Based on these results, it develops a strategy to increase how often your company appears in these answers. It checks to ensure your website is agent-ready, and can make updates so that AI crawlers find the right content they need to reference.

Kite also explores which of your competitors show up where you don't, and investigates which content mentions them. It then identifies content to create that can get you cited instead, then builds the pages, posts, and updates and ships them to your website (whether it's one Kite builds for you or one that runs on Sanity, Contentful, WordPress, Webflow, or a repository in GitHub). When it sees an opportunity to get you mentioned on a third-party page, Kite finds the right person to message and drafts the outreach.

Once all the work has shipped, Kite re-runs the prompts to see what changed. It keeps running this loop (measure, strategize, plan, execute), until you start earning the citations and mentions your company needs.

Choose the questions your buyers actually ask

Before Kite can measure your AI visibility, it needs to know which questions matter to your business. A prompt that includes your company name can show what an AI answer engine knows about you. But those prompts won't show whether you appear when a buyer asks how to solve a problem or when they compare products like yours.

Kite uses what it already knows about your products, positioning, customers, and competitors to propose questions worth tracking. That list covers the problems your customers are trying to solve, the categories you compete in, and the products or capabilities you want your company to be known for.

You can also give Kite specific prompts you want it to track. Once you agree on the list, Kite will preserve it as the set of prompts to check every time it runs an answer engine optimization (AEO) assessment.

Measure how often your company appears in AI answers

Kite runs the prompts you agreed on through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude. For every answer, it records whether your company is mentioned, which competitors appear, and which pages the answer cites. It keeps the results for each prompt and answer engine separate so you can see where your visibility is strong and where you're missing entirely.

Kite tracks mentions and citations separately. Your company can be mentioned even when your website isn't cited, and a third-party page can become the source that gets your name into an answer. Seeing both mentions and citations helps Kite determine whether your best opportunity to improve is on a page you control or somewhere else on the web.

These results establish your rank, visibility, and share of voice against your competitors that appear in the same answers. Share of voice shows how much of the total brand presence across your tracked prompts belongs to your company. Kite can also compare these results with your search rankings, impressions, and clicks to find questions where your website already performs well, but your company doesn't appear in AI answers.

Find out why competitors appear when you don’t

Once Kite understands where your company is missing in AI answers, it looks at what's helping competitors appear instead. For each prompt, Kite opens the pages cited in the answer and checks which companies they mention, what kind of page they are, and how directly they answer the question.

Sometimes the reason is straightforward. The same three comparison pages may appear across several answers, with each one recommending your competitors and leaving your company out. In other cases, a competitor has documentation that answers the question more clearly, ranks for searches related to the prompt, or appears repeatedly in community discussions and industry roundups.

Kite can add search rankings, backlinks, and domain authority to this analysis. These signals help explain whether a competitor is benefiting from content on its own website, stronger third-party coverage, or sources with more authority behind them. Kite then uses the evidence to decide whether the next move is improving a page you control, creating something new, fixing how AI systems access your site, or earning a place in a third-party source.

Make sure AI answer engines can read your website

AI answer engines need to be able to find and understand your pages before they can cite them. Kite scans your public website and checks 22 things that affect how AI systems read it. These include whether your important content loads without JavaScript, whether your sitemap and crawler rules point to the right pages, and whether your structured data and llms.txt describe your content accurately.

Kite gives your site an agent-readiness level from zero to five and explains what it found. Each failed check comes with a specific fix. Some fixes help crawlers find your pages, while others make the products, companies, and ideas on those pages easier to understand.

Kite can make and publish these changes directly on a website it hosts. If your website runs on Webflow, WordPress, Contentful, Sanity, or Storyblok, Kite makes the updates through your connected content system.

Publish the answers your website is missing

Some visibility gaps exist because your website never answers the question a buyer is asking. Others happen because the answer is buried in an old page, missing important detail, or is written in a format the answer engines rarely cite.

Kite uses its diagnosis to decide whether to improve an existing page or create something new. That could mean publishing a category page, writing a direct comparison, expanding your documentation, or adding a clearer answer to a page that already ranks. Kite writes the content using what it knows about your products, positioning, customers, competitors, and brand voice.

Once you approve the work in Slack, Kite publishes it to the website it built for you or through your connected content system. Each page stays connected to the prompts it was created to address, so the next assessment can show whether the change helped your company appear.

Get mentioned in the sources AI answer engines already cite

Not every opportunity is on your website. AI answers also cite category roundups, comparison articles, review sites, documentation, and community discussions that other people control. When those pages mention your competitors and leave you out, they give the answer engines plenty of reasons to recommend someone else.

Kite identifies the third-party sources that appear most often across your tracked prompts. It shows you which competitors each source mentions, which questions lead back to those sources, and where getting included could improve your visibility.

Kite then finds the person responsible for the page and drafts the outreach. The message explains why your company belongs, gives the writer the relevant product and positioning information, and makes the specific inclusion easy to evaluate. Your team can review the outreach in Slack and send it from the appropriate account.

Whenever the page gets updated, Kite checks the same prompts again to see whether any new citations or mentions appear in the answers.

Run the questions again and see what changed

After a round of work has shipped, Kite runs the same prompts through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude again. It compares the new answers with your baseline to see where your company gained or lost mentions, which pages are now being cited, and how your rank and share of voice changed.

The comparison shows which prompts moved and which competitors changed position. It also helps Kite connect the result back to the work that shipped, whether that was a new page, an update to your website, or inclusion in a third-party source.

The new results tell Kite what to work on next. It can keep tracking the questions that matter, adjust the strategy based on what changed, and bring the next plan back to your team in Slack.

Get started

How to get started

Add Kite to Slack first. Then, tell it what you want to improve in plain language. You might ask, “Why do our competitors show up in ChatGPT when we don’t?” or “Help us appear when buyers ask AI about products like ours.”

Kite uses what it already knows about your business to propose the prompts worth tracking and the competitors worth watching. It sends you that list in a message so you can change or approve it before the first assessment runs.

You can measure your current AI visibility without connecting another product. Connect Google Search Console, Semrush, Ahrefs, or Moz when you want Kite to add your own search and competitor data to the analysis. If your website runs outside Kite, connect your content system when you are ready for Kite to publish the changes.

Kite proposes work by default. Your team can approve it by replying in the Slack thread. If you want Kite to act on its own, you can turn that behavior on too.

Questions

Common questions

Can Kite guarantee that my company will appear in AI answers?

Kite cannot control what ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Claude says. It improves the things that influence those answers: the content on your website, how easily AI systems can read it, and whether the third-party sources they cite include your company. Kite then measures the same prompts again so you can see whether the work changed the result.

How often should I run an AEO assessment?

Run the first assessment before making changes so you have a baseline. Run the same prompts again after the work has shipped, then continue checking them as your content, competitors, and the answer engines change. Using the same prompt set makes each assessment comparable with the ones before it.

How does Kite measure share of voice in AI answers?

Kite counts how often each company appears across your tracked prompts in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude. Your share of voice is the percentage of those brand appearances that belong to your company. Because it is calculated from the prompts you chose, it describes your standing across those questions rather than every possible AI answer.

Can Kite change my website so ChatGPT and Perplexity cite it, or does it only tell me what to fix?

Yes. On a Kite-hosted site, Kite edits and publishes the pages, structured data, metadata, crawler rules, and llms.txt directly. If your site runs elsewhere, Kite publishes the supported changes through your connected content system. Public changes go live after you approve them in Slack.

Can Kite tell me how much traffic an AI answer sends to my website?

Kite currently measures whether your company is mentioned, which pages are cited, and how your rank and share of voice change across the prompts you track. It does not attribute a specific website visit or conversion to an individual AI answer. You can still compare changes in your AI visibility with your website and search performance to see whether they move together.
